WRA Relocates it's Boarding School from Puerto Rico to Delta, Utah
January 17, 2007
We are pleased to announce the much awaited relocation of White River Academy, a boarding school for troubled teens, from Rio Grande, Puerto Rico to Delta, Utah. We have also redesigned our website: http://www.teenhelponline.com and we have added nine new articles about Positive Peer Culture.
On November 23, 2006, we made the long journey from Puerto Rico to the Salt Lake City International Airport. We then drove two and one half hours south west to Delta. It was an arduous trip, but it is very rewarding to be at our new facility.
We are anxious to continue the expansion of the services we offer. A new addition to our services is Individual Counseling twice per month where therapy is given to increase emotional development and to evaluate behavior. Also new is the ability for parents to speak with our Licensed Counselor up to four times monthly for progress review and Family Counseling.
On January 11, 2007, we received our first visit, in this new facility, from The Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges for accreditation purposes to further our academic program.
In the next few months, we hope to add a music class to our curriculum in which students will be able to learn to play the Guitar and take vocal lessons.
White River is very excited to have several new staff joining us and a few who came with us from Puerto Rico. Some of those joining us are highlighted below:
1. Our Academic Director, Chris Cary who has a Masters in Education.
2. Lorel Jones who works as our Teacher/Tutor. She just finished her student teaching and is continuing work on her Bachelors in Education. She hopes to some day finish her Ph.D. in Education and teach in a University.
3. Gary Anderson, LPC who does our counseling.
4. Several support staff
We continue to offer the 60-90 Day Wake Up Call Programs for at risk youth just beginning to go down a troubled road.
White River Academy continues to offer a rigorous academic schedule six days a week. Our program includes a 24 hour structure with Positive Peer Culture group sessions five days a week. These sessions deal with three core problems: having low self image, being inconsiderate of others, and being inconsiderate of self. The sessions also treat nine specific problems: anger, fronting, lying, stealing, abusing drugs and alcohol, being easily mislead, misleading others, authority problems, and aggravating others.
We hope all are having a good start to the New Year. We hope that if any one has questions regarding our new and existing services to please contact us via the website at www.teenhelponline.com or call us toll free 24 hours a day at 1-866-679-8336.
